Thai Oil Massage (Aromatherapy Massage)
Plants, flowers and their essences have played an integral role in healing disciplines in Asia. "Aromatherapy", as we know it today, is the art and science of treating physical and emotional illnesses with essential oils. The powerful properties of essential oils are best absorbed through the skin or through inhalation.
Nowadays, aromatherapy massages are among the most popular treatments at tropical spas. Through massage, the active molecules of essential oils, already blended with a carrier oil, penetrate the bloodstream and soothe the central nervous system. For most people, the barrage of citrus, floral or spicy notes of the oils, like any smell, will bring back a stream of memories. The physiology of smell is supposedly closely linked with emotions. Apparently, the olfactory sensors in our nasal passage can recognise up to 10,000 different aromas. In addition, as the massage activates the body's nerve endings and stimulates blood flow, the medicinal properties of essential oils act on the internal organs and treat ailments. Although the oils only remain in the body for three or four hours before they are expelled, they will have already triggered a healing process.
The essential oils we use at our salon are extracted from herbs, leaves and flowers found and grown in Thailand. Their powerful soothing properties relax body and mind, reduce fatique and clear out toxins from the skin and muscles. Massage has the added benefit of stimulating blood circulation, enabling the oils to disperse rapidly throughout the body.
For this massage we use 100% Coconut massage oil including various types of essentials (natural, sandalwood, jasmin, green tea, rose, lavender).
